Living in the Chicago area, we've had plenty of snow and cold to last a lifetime.<br />
<br />
My kids absolutely LOVE the snow. They could spend hours on end outside, no matter how cold it was.<br />
<br />
On days that got particularly cold (with wind chills well below zero), I'd opt to bring the snow inside and let them play with it in cake pans.
They love this and would spend hours playing with their little toys and figures (especially their little Frozen dolls) in it in the warmth of our home. I would just go back-and-forth refilling the pans that would melt with fresh snow to continue the fun.<br />
<br />
This got me thinking about making up some snow play dough that we wouldn't have to worry about melting or surrounding puddles. This certainly wouldn't completely replace bringing snow inside, but I figure it to be a nice alternative.<br />
<br />
Ingredients:<br />
2 cups water<br />
2 tablespoons vegetable oil<br />
food coloring (optional)<br />
peppermint extract (optional)<br />
2 cups flour<br />
1 cup salt<br />
4 teaspoons cream of tartar<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVsJmWCa8e0VTn4SpgLnUUKK4PG4sf7zUPg7g3-qlXlYcQxFvlu3aX5lt8Wdyw1cMPSC_5jo4GKcMlZeVEbKrtdYoM-cDmpQEPekcCeWikpTkuhsthNddrMITYS0rMLhaFsbcV3sC6JKY/s1600/FrozenPlaydough1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVsJmWCa8e0VTn4SpgLnUUKK4PG4sf7zUPg7g3-qlXlYcQxFvlu3aX5lt8Wdyw1cMPSC_5jo4GKcMlZeVEbKrtdYoM-cDmpQEPekcCeWikpTkuhsthNddrMITYS0rMLhaFsbcV3sC6JKY/s1600/FrozenPlaydough1.jpg" height="394" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
1. Mix 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar, and glitter (optional) in large pot.<br />
<br />
2. If desired, you can put food coloring in the 2 cups of water (if you want a color other than white) and/or you can put a teaspoon of peppermint extract or any other kind of extract in the water, if you want to add a scent.<br />
<br />
3. Add the 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to dry mixture already in the pot.<br />
<br />
4. Stir until the mixture starts to form a solid consistency, scraping the bottom and sides of pot.<br />
<br />
5. Once it's at the desired consistency, carefully remove from pot as it will be hot, and place on a flat surface lightly floured for kneading.<br />
<br />
6. Let the play dough completely cool before storing. You can use ziploc bags, tupperware, and/or shallow mason jars.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiGFWIv6ZSc4RTZgs9kxsg5XaKMx8J8kOtBEHfG02i7xQ8_18j13vjGRAdxCY6woQk95_T4d12lm4vWskLxWbxYw9mBBv0rbm5o7vnnKaLUcYAOHJS2QJpX9qwaREvVUG8rDUAOekDxNY/s1600/FrozenPlaydough2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiGFWIv6ZSc4RTZgs9kxsg5XaKMx8J8kOtBEHfG02i7xQ8_18j13vjGRAdxCY6woQk95_T4d12lm4vWskLxWbxYw9mBBv0rbm5o7vnnKaLUcYAOHJS2QJpX9qwaREvVUG8rDUAOekDxNY/s1600/FrozenPlaydough2.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Simply print the <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/p3tvowqvsebsunt/valentineloom.pdf">free downloadable image</a> (3 cards will print on one 8.5" x 11" sheet of card stock).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using a paper cutter or scissors cut them apart.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can just wrap a rainbow loom around the edges of the card, just under the word "sweetness".</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIVo1VjncRyBLboU58n6KOIhq-pAiyM7YaoWhc2CoCxK2ioQe6ku_uLddy-HZmoToa91B9yrvGKXMO2CSMWx2NIimBwnBjzKPzmCiyrR-WcFirEvLmLZhByxIYhyphenhyphenWOxjUu2j4OZLbK4EQ/s1600/valentimeloomhole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIVo1VjncRyBLboU58n6KOIhq-pAiyM7YaoWhc2CoCxK2ioQe6ku_uLddy-HZmoToa91B9yrvGKXMO2CSMWx2NIimBwnBjzKPzmCiyrR-WcFirEvLmLZhByxIYhyphenhyphenWOxjUu2j4OZLbK4EQ/s1600/valentimeloomhole.jpg" width="482" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Or you could even use a hole punch to make two holes and feed it through, closing it in the back of the card.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoejQxnwMc_gwYYVLxYBTn0-fBc3uMl6X5zx98ob3gZ4OjTWcKjsLKCAJbXtCE4QjII2GtnefNquAXCxhwWVLEaVlNtk5MlgIe2MyRkWomgKvCLfkbE9ZqzN-ZsxXr5RC7y1krF9SC25Q/s1600/3persheetilLOOMinate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="494" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoejQxnwMc_gwYYVLxYBTn0-fBc3uMl6X5zx98ob3gZ4OjTWcKjsLKCAJbXtCE4QjII2GtnefNquAXCxhwWVLEaVlNtk5MlgIe2MyRkWomgKvCLfkbE9ZqzN-ZsxXr5RC7y1krF9SC25Q/s1600/3persheetilLOOMinate.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Again, you can download these valentines free <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/p3tvowqvsebsunt/valentineloom.pdf" target="_blank">here</a> & just wrap your rainbow looms under the word, "sweetness" or create hole punches and feed the bracelet through, closing it in the back of the card.<br />
<br />
Spread the love :)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is just another Sharpie mug idea for Valentine's Day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just grabbed a mug from the Dollar Tree and used red and gold oil-based Sharpie markers to draw some heart arrows on the side of the mug. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Baked it in the oven at 350 for an hour.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTyEaF6Tme-6jmrVcDQTYHkQxyYyYzIhR8hgAAAeO0R4rlObAFq-jo097Ak9ZueJ1ZElfdGE8oY15zC9sgvsXZRyAgbHaa6q-DpegauzxvAl8WBr20UYw_ek4Fnvl1DEFIDPL4yoXSvc4/s1600/mug2.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTyEaF6Tme-6jmrVcDQTYHkQxyYyYzIhR8hgAAAeO0R4rlObAFq-jo097Ak9ZueJ1ZElfdGE8oY15zC9sgvsXZRyAgbHaa6q-DpegauzxvAl8WBr20UYw_ek4Fnvl1DEFIDPL4yoXSvc4/s1600/mug2.jpg.jpg" height="640" width="424" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In my first attempt (pictured above), I used Frog tape to help make the lines straight. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I quickly realized that the markers still bled through the edge. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I thought, in this instance, I'd be better off free-handing it even if the lines looked crooked.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This might be fun to give to a friend or teacher filled with some chocolate candies. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Spread the love :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you're looking for a fun way to display the flowers your honey gets you, look no further than the Dollar Tree.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can pick up a plain glass vase and a sack of clear, flat marbles ($1/each) and simply hot glue them to the vase. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAkvYHoFGbec8r8jk_KCemXJ_X-fQCpaaZ1dS71CVN2z_BprUC3cSAWxLtZ4dUTlBa0ARiujutSBhjS2Q5jHvBz44Pv-YKekUy8uLSbdAzRt6jTRJexbG-KQML_fD1VCIiijDkXdpLsoM/s1600/Vase3.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAkvYHoFGbec8r8jk_KCemXJ_X-fQCpaaZ1dS71CVN2z_BprUC3cSAWxLtZ4dUTlBa0ARiujutSBhjS2Q5jHvBz44Pv-YKekUy8uLSbdAzRt6jTRJexbG-KQML_fD1VCIiijDkXdpLsoM/s1600/Vase3.jpg.jpg" height="640" width="446" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can glue them in any shape desired. It might also be fun to mod podge images to the marbles before gluing them down to add more to your design.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I happened to do a quick heart shape, but obviously, there are many possibilities. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It would also be fun to give as a gift to a friend or loved one. </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We used ours to display the tissue paper flowers the kids made on a snow day.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgteaJ6i2i4A9-CIGJFLf9KF-L7W_2WG0kTXS_f_R08V_6SHRNy1Vcnrt5DGw9y45mSpqkVIDXeAwvEeNoy5s42XKt8SZmSE7qrgDQL-zvyQm-nusFMBEz86sCiXK4KshIa_HbYTbX1e4A/s1600/MaggieThanks1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgteaJ6i2i4A9-CIGJFLf9KF-L7W_2WG0kTXS_f_R08V_6SHRNy1Vcnrt5DGw9y45mSpqkVIDXeAwvEeNoy5s42XKt8SZmSE7qrgDQL-zvyQm-nusFMBEz86sCiXK4KshIa_HbYTbX1e4A/s640/MaggieThanks1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In lieu of store-bought thank you cards, we've had the kids write notes of gratitude on the back of a picture print for the past couple of years. We either include a picture of them at their birthday party or a posed pic of them, tying in the theme of the party.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We just order them as 4x6 prints, so it's really inexpensive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This particular pic was a thank you note from an 8 year old painting party. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We had her hold the brush up like she was painting the letters and then, in Photoshop, we used a paint stroke font and changed each letter to a different color. Lastly, we added a little "paint" on the edge of the paint brush.</div>

With Christmas this year, we decided to try our hand at making an A-frame tent for our adorable nephews, using <a href="http://mycakies.com/2011/05/diy-a-frame-tent/" target="_blank">Cakies</a> tutorial.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidZUc7oVjXJXn8IdSltTDWdr9GxC5N74YGsOGqxMCBIy-2oUhyphenhyphen3dwJabIfRHbfj8ttCzw23_Zf_9JFWTUVRBQ0mDWc4fwLIOHYUtZz5s-5oz4_SK0OAh1v5BzfJDvdibMOWwwqvoykxjw/s1600/tent2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidZUc7oVjXJXn8IdSltTDWdr9GxC5N74YGsOGqxMCBIy-2oUhyphenhyphen3dwJabIfRHbfj8ttCzw23_Zf_9JFWTUVRBQ0mDWc4fwLIOHYUtZz5s-5oz4_SK0OAh1v5BzfJDvdibMOWwwqvoykxjw/s640/tent2.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her step-by-step instructions, accompanied by the visuals, made it nice and easy to follow along.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhBDjncW8eW3oN-CDjr53qYIzS3Fd6XTaq_8nNUZsL5Du4ZXHqWm9AQRDxCu4vaYmIyNtchjXkxtEJlY1fd0h0bl2l1W2A6ndsOrjZq7xjCZyLUI1sPCPUVlkPNfWzKzHL0W3zFAeHYRs/s1600/tent3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhBDjncW8eW3oN-CDjr53qYIzS3Fd6XTaq_8nNUZsL5Du4ZXHqWm9AQRDxCu4vaYmIyNtchjXkxtEJlY1fd0h0bl2l1W2A6ndsOrjZq7xjCZyLUI1sPCPUVlkPNfWzKzHL0W3zFAeHYRs/s640/tent3.jpg" width="336" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also loved <a href="http://www.aprettycoollife.com/2013/10/tent-building-and-night-before-halloween.html" target="_blank">A Pretty Cool Life's</a> version of the tent with the use of stripe. I was hoping to go for a similar effect and was happy to find a sheet set at Target with a navy and white stripe. Cheryl was also helpful in sharing her tip about putting grippers on the bottom of the tent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We gave them the tent last night, but noticed it still wasn't staying put as well as we'd hope. So when we got home, I did a search and came across this <a href="http://imprintalish.blogspot.com/2011/11/for-kids-diy-frame-tent.html#.Uq2wc41Q2x8" target="_blank">helpful tip</a> from <a href="http://imprintalish.blogspot.com/">imprintalish.blogspot.com</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her suggestion of using eye hooks and twine looks like it did the trick for keeping it from collapsing.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCsAYXbsR4tCNdy9xfaW1vLHTScP4vFE-bQdhwub_HHrw0tEXQtco0RCk5imXZ7QWrpL_iEgM3IkIReprQU9wBvDGLKrPRymDYR0BfUTf8f6hu793UfDRAzbyFXuJA5lg9QBq9PrcIxg/s1600/tentpillows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCsAYXbsR4tCNdy9xfaW1vLHTScP4vFE-bQdhwub_HHrw0tEXQtco0RCk5imXZ7QWrpL_iEgM3IkIReprQU9wBvDGLKrPRymDYR0BfUTf8f6hu793UfDRAzbyFXuJA5lg9QBq9PrcIxg/s640/tentpillows.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Originally, I thought we'd cover the tent frame using a Star Wars fabric, as the boys are really into that. But in the long run we figured to keep the main part of the tent more general and thought to make little pillows that they could use inside the tent, using a Star Wars fabric from <a href="http://www.spoonflower.com/" target="_blank">Spoonflower</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We followed this great <a href="http://www.thehappierhomemaker.com/2012/07/easy-cheap-fast-diy-pillow-covers.html" target="_blank">tutorial</a> from <a href="http://thehappierhomemaker.com/">thehappierhomemaker.com</a> for making the pillow covers and got the inserts from <a href="http://amazon.com/">amazon.com</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Are you a gift card giver?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tend to go in spurts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Unless I see something that I think the person will really love, or if a gift registry is pretty well picked over, I like to give a gift card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's like guilt-free shopping for the person receiving it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I end up going that route, it's usually not a last-minute thought. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's actually the opposite. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After searching and thinking, it's the decision that I think would be best in the end.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So when I give the gift card, I don't want it to look like a last-minute thing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One way to give the gift is by making a little gift card holder/envelope.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCxlW9FmxjKQ_F9i4OglwlHpPYyuW6tr4wR2sBlX_tyKYG6oEAQrDfXWF-LchQIq_RcBsLDO242f6U-jz4vknLBkYhsEZ5PPai0MyjgJBXStIOhdsumDiQdpse-ar2umbVCxIuuGZlr6I/s1600/env1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCxlW9FmxjKQ_F9i4OglwlHpPYyuW6tr4wR2sBlX_tyKYG6oEAQrDfXWF-LchQIq_RcBsLDO242f6U-jz4vknLBkYhsEZ5PPai0MyjgJBXStIOhdsumDiQdpse-ar2umbVCxIuuGZlr6I/s640/env1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
To make this, you'll need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
double-sided scrapbook paper</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
thread/sewing machine</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
hot glue gun/hot glue sticks</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
string</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
buttons</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
small circular felt pads</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzZWNanwk-0k2ktRwaN2ZxYtpYIyRxqI9oPZ-BZvrILmpv7O89FHEb3wlmX861V4NkA9rv2mv3xc1XaD5OXTpRdzWv30BshU9oZLwzXur_wrUrey7cTXSqRW2Fr28vzm7luH-rrL47Z44/s1600/env2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="518" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzZWNanwk-0k2ktRwaN2ZxYtpYIyRxqI9oPZ-BZvrILmpv7O89FHEb3wlmX861V4NkA9rv2mv3xc1XaD5OXTpRdzWv30BshU9oZLwzXur_wrUrey7cTXSqRW2Fr28vzm7luH-rrL47Z44/s640/env2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
To make the envelope/gift card holder:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Determine what size you want, and fold your paper accordingly.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Simply run it through the sewing machine to sew the seems down.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To make the ties:</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
First, take one end of the string and stick it to the bottom of one of the felt circles.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Even though they are self-adhesive, I still dab a very small dot of hot glue to where I want to place it on the envelope.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Place the felt circle, with the string attached, down onto the dot of hot glue.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then take the second felt circle, dab a little hot glue a couple of inches above the first one, onto the flap of the envelope.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next, dab a little hot glue on top of both felt circles and press down buttons.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can twist it shut by winding your string around both buttons. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjXIbWblTpxUiyW1kMA9i8ckIY25mRrnRjcxI0OUqSgbJGT3zwW9xkg6OSWl49xs_6VV1hJc26LsAJCts55RvTI2ssNBYfexcRn74JkwFSUn0hj4ELQ8ZPXERdnMaZ4RFkP6n0wag-LJY/s1600/env3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="388" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjXIbWblTpxUiyW1kMA9i8ckIY25mRrnRjcxI0OUqSgbJGT3zwW9xkg6OSWl49xs_6VV1hJc26LsAJCts55RvTI2ssNBYfexcRn74JkwFSUn0hj4ELQ8ZPXERdnMaZ4RFkP6n0wag-LJY/s640/env3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQI8ZL9AZ123mfgUYWhAEqBMunTh8cnCdLo9wC5mmLw8aj3212UQvFMt1nfc0otvX7u801Yne1mmMhIUJicxdxc4qfV-tIqXrSF_X-Jfg0V9OZ3exeNUAYtuqA_Jzfn2AT-41G61ccMXQ/s1600/env4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="514" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQI8ZL9AZ123mfgUYWhAEqBMunTh8cnCdLo9wC5mmLw8aj3212UQvFMt1nfc0otvX7u801Yne1mmMhIUJicxdxc4qfV-tIqXrSF_X-Jfg0V9OZ3exeNUAYtuqA_Jzfn2AT-41G61ccMXQ/s640/env4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you don't want to do the twist tie closure with the buttons, you can still make a cute envelope and use washi tape to seat it shut.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy gifting!</div>

Here are some easy and festive garland ideas to help brighten up your holidays:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKjyGd4JyzI3Y3aes_F2WUVQ6q8KLUegapVZPQcInKO1L5RWA_pTW9MtAF9TiKhMrYE6y5wJRRNYWZW-Zal4y2lnozETS5QO1mozBSa5l4l28XUwUVl57wTgUMOMp_RJtP-mo33ICz15Q/s1600/GarlandTree1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKjyGd4JyzI3Y3aes_F2WUVQ6q8KLUegapVZPQcInKO1L5RWA_pTW9MtAF9TiKhMrYE6y5wJRRNYWZW-Zal4y2lnozETS5QO1mozBSa5l4l28XUwUVl57wTgUMOMp_RJtP-mo33ICz15Q/s640/GarlandTree1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After each Christmas, I try and make it a point to get some kind of Christmas decor on super duper sale.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I realize that if I go right away, the selection will be greater but the crowds and price reduction might not be the greatest. </div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If I wait, I'm likely to get something upwards of 90% off and not have to deal with any sort of crowd. The selection, however, is pretty much guaranteed to be pretty well picked over at this point.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Unless I have something specific that I've been eyeballing, I usually wait and see if anything jumps out in January.</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A couple of years ago I picked up these cute felt Christmas tree ornaments. If memory serves me right, I believe they came in sets of four, originally $1/each set. I think I got them for $0.30/each in January?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They came with those gold strings on top, to be able to hang them from a tree. I cut those off and used strings of jute tied in their place. Of course you could leave the gold ones on as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I strung a long piece of jute through them, spaced them out evenly, and hot glued the tops of the individual strings to the longer piece of jute.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The colors of these felt trees tie in nicely into the kids' playroom/basement.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSTAVtJQOhh1gIYjypsHwF9YoosZPEaWIm0w92FjFDpNhUqbSCBGqK99I1L0JpyrW2QXZDYUqHkFZCfI2tw0oFEh14usxPZsBKmZlHrpLJqpy2QcofD9BVUuUs4kK_8-fV_KByIkxxOXU/s1600/garlandornament3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSTAVtJQOhh1gIYjypsHwF9YoosZPEaWIm0w92FjFDpNhUqbSCBGqK99I1L0JpyrW2QXZDYUqHkFZCfI2tw0oFEh14usxPZsBKmZlHrpLJqpy2QcofD9BVUuUs4kK_8-fV_KByIkxxOXU/s640/garlandornament3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkB147owslmWJS4TMrS8PjYd9S-lX-DxiIBY0G2FtcUlrVtRv1cYM4oaxcUv0RQh_Svk3M32I-TXg5xROyrcgWbPh7A-fLCyHjl01wfUCifJWp8MOnaiiAyq2XdESm7OUZfs6EnUDmuG0/s1600/garlandornament2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkB147owslmWJS4TMrS8PjYd9S-lX-DxiIBY0G2FtcUlrVtRv1cYM4oaxcUv0RQh_Svk3M32I-TXg5xROyrcgWbPh7A-fLCyHjl01wfUCifJWp8MOnaiiAyq2XdESm7OUZfs6EnUDmuG0/s640/garlandornament2.jpg" width="558" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This simple ornament garland was made with the following:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
scrapbook paper</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
double stick tape</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
fine glitter</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
ornament hooks</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
tiny hole punch</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
larger circular paper punch</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
thread</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. I just simply cut varying-length strips of different green scrapbook paper and thread them through the sewing machine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you don't have a sewing machine, you can hang these one a string of lights, store bought evergreen garland, twigs, etc...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. I used the larger circular paper punch to get the circular-shaped papers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you don't have a punch, you can turn a glass upside down, trace around it and cut out circles that way.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Then I took strips of double stick tape and folded them at the top of the circles (ornaments), leaving a small part of them to stick to the paper, but the majority sticking above it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. I dipped them to cover them in glitter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you don't have glitter or double stick tape, you can just use regular tape or washi tape.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. I then use the small hole punch to make tiny holes in the center of the glittered tape.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you don't have a small punch, you can just poke the ornament through with a little force.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6. Lastly, I just put real ornament hooks into the tiny holes and hung them from the paper evergreen.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDIQbqfikyRw-mcoxLJTkaaY2OrBElzcr9My6Y2D9w51VY-Ux2or0IbcsDadH8xYddDj76u3PB72EYjcXF_GROQYKbn8jfsodbA1BSx-c6i4v0d-eXzmqAWXifFfw-VqFPsz8RJS607-Q/s1600/garlandholly3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDIQbqfikyRw-mcoxLJTkaaY2OrBElzcr9My6Y2D9w51VY-Ux2or0IbcsDadH8xYddDj76u3PB72EYjcXF_GROQYKbn8jfsodbA1BSx-c6i4v0d-eXzmqAWXifFfw-VqFPsz8RJS607-Q/s640/garlandholly3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a fair amount of white felt left over from my daughter's communion banner, so I thought it'd be neat to put a little twist on the red and green holly garland, and make it all white.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To give it that snowy look.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The good thing is, this can be strung and work with pretty much any style holiday set-up. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Whether it be whimsical, with reds, turquoises, and pinks, or more traditional with red and green, the all-white color should tie in pretty nicely.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just used a washi tape roll as a an outline template to help me cut circles and just eyeballed the holly leaf cutting before feeding the pieces through the sewing machine.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a snowflake garland that I've started, but haven't finished. If I get my act in gear, I'll do an update.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

If you're looking to make a quick and simple holiday craft, you can make reindeers out of paper straws.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGi3XXmW8HAHTj2XT-BOdxsxH9I9TmzTVKPuGz1H831N97wMyheDG-6l8rsA33n1U06xJcaK34XOY0uujX7zXYp7fSSNxsFf8-SqC51VdHCJ8YqfridqHD6NOvnxT4CwTthbqYaazUrFQ/s1600/RGstandingdeer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGi3XXmW8HAHTj2XT-BOdxsxH9I9TmzTVKPuGz1H831N97wMyheDG-6l8rsA33n1U06xJcaK34XOY0uujX7zXYp7fSSNxsFf8-SqC51VdHCJ8YqfridqHD6NOvnxT4CwTthbqYaazUrFQ/s640/RGstandingdeer.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_1118293885"></span><span id="goog_1118293886"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To make a single reindeer, you'll need:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5 paper straws</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
scissors</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
hot glue gun/hot glue sticks</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgahL9vmosVhQEOpWvjeEFTzVLhYyNMGNFR9apPxy8i4UE4TejNk3e8EGAE1GRJ34x_1w-vt8HoH_XnUI-JWxI38BKpZf5AWERENqVNah7_6wQhb6lVQmZ9o6xTzcB94DkOR51xaF1rvVI/s1600/RGsupplies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgahL9vmosVhQEOpWvjeEFTzVLhYyNMGNFR9apPxy8i4UE4TejNk3e8EGAE1GRJ34x_1w-vt8HoH_XnUI-JWxI38BKpZf5AWERENqVNah7_6wQhb6lVQmZ9o6xTzcB94DkOR51xaF1rvVI/s640/RGsupplies.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Take a straw and slightly bend the top 1/5 of the straw to point down on an angle.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXl5Ksgew1ywsWBZ1eIcFhA9lotrVbzKh96YC_WNHcrKlMJqLwC0CTzF6X-deTGFovYHXHXdyTQTtKUumFuvmeedQdWCaHNJIkwIoy1u5lHM0uGYv60IeAv2fX3D1kdaiPgiwshEfMSq8/s1600/RGstep1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXl5Ksgew1ywsWBZ1eIcFhA9lotrVbzKh96YC_WNHcrKlMJqLwC0CTzF6X-deTGFovYHXHXdyTQTtKUumFuvmeedQdWCaHNJIkwIoy1u5lHM0uGYv60IeAv2fX3D1kdaiPgiwshEfMSq8/s640/RGstep1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Take 2 straws and bend them in the middle to make "V" shapes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCzR-bqLUZcXoGyllxMrrzeh0nGj2pzN4-4tZIsZR1qfP405osvBFTZu79TQ8-dtyPY-GCZ2mUQSP3X0oGispjYeMYIwUv7Zm0uQgpfhHDCyl72utkuO93G4bfQUYHCT6e6nX0yZuk_9c/s1600/RGstep2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCzR-bqLUZcXoGyllxMrrzeh0nGj2pzN4-4tZIsZR1qfP405osvBFTZu79TQ8-dtyPY-GCZ2mUQSP3X0oGispjYeMYIwUv7Zm0uQgpfhHDCyl72utkuO93G4bfQUYHCT6e6nX0yZuk_9c/s640/RGstep2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Dab some hot glue in the center of these "V"'s and place one of them on one end of the first straw that you bent w/ the 2 ends of the "V"'s pointing down (these will be the hind legs of the reindeer). Place the other in back of where you bent the 1/5 of the other straw (leaving a little space for the antlers to go).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3Xl8eWHWixDrmSMoUwri012EXO9rsOja_twlyJkANGFE9Ma4CXz0kNOyRKG41OaiQmMxtvE12ZMJeY5RldiZH7FX3i9ta4zAbEp3JeGAXlThVnlzE5wWqakkNKnAGwDjF62rxMURxCO8/s1600/RGstep3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3Xl8eWHWixDrmSMoUwri012EXO9rsOja_twlyJkANGFE9Ma4CXz0kNOyRKG41OaiQmMxtvE12ZMJeY5RldiZH7FX3i9ta4zAbEp3JeGAXlThVnlzE5wWqakkNKnAGwDjF62rxMURxCO8/s640/RGstep3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Bend your 4th straw like a "V" again, only this time, you'll be gluing it so that the two ends of the "V" point upward. This will be glued right in front of where you glued the front legs.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTP3xYHiiljBVeFjhop2iUK4tZRm34AFpQcxR-rUhahBATKzDNELWI29qv2ncnJPGB_ZNfQ2hpynKcqLU5y4WnwCOsG5eZbkirYE6OwXGyOJxhTMsFHC5-lERzEmilGtmZN-5QL0BRWcY/s1600/RGstep4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTP3xYHiiljBVeFjhop2iUK4tZRm34AFpQcxR-rUhahBATKzDNELWI29qv2ncnJPGB_ZNfQ2hpynKcqLU5y4WnwCOsG5eZbkirYE6OwXGyOJxhTMsFHC5-lERzEmilGtmZN-5QL0BRWcY/s640/RGstep4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
5. Next, take your last straw and cut it in half.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPXSELGa6lx9vtLksRwVm3qFbxI650Tu9281AGoTp7KjB7EZn1LIXxGO1KY1N3QeqdGw4OTviNGsfTK5SqvIzfGgpNMHWorBpDIychBNWqM82VF_D9-D1JsTSMsfkBqm8AT0vv9U415NA/s1600/RGstep6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="458" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPXSELGa6lx9vtLksRwVm3qFbxI650Tu9281AGoTp7KjB7EZn1LIXxGO1KY1N3QeqdGw4OTviNGsfTK5SqvIzfGgpNMHWorBpDIychBNWqM82VF_D9-D1JsTSMsfkBqm8AT0vv9U415NA/s640/RGstep6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6. Take those 2 smaller pieces and bend them into little
"v"'s. Dab hot glue in the crevice of these "v"'s and glue them onto
the sides of the big "V" antlers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimS3vJzVAbA9EuzBJO6gx4RaPPN80z29S4nrzVpWzuIIRhpIIvBrHhstwt6xnerTvigWr5Xf-zGub8QHwP7jQydblcXuZ8ABe6HDm9BgnFJAOBgwHH5uUOKQW718iD9kmVK9ZUMr-r1tg/s1600/RGstep7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimS3vJzVAbA9EuzBJO6gx4RaPPN80z29S4nrzVpWzuIIRhpIIvBrHhstwt6xnerTvigWr5Xf-zGub8QHwP7jQydblcXuZ8ABe6HDm9BgnFJAOBgwHH5uUOKQW718iD9kmVK9ZUMr-r1tg/s640/RGstep7.jpg" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJjs9tVkKnZzrsKwuKwCp1mYGCEbwfcCZmJl-vSyAFMTP3ceQAFHsHVNRhAhrF08JWzXA9NsWk3LfAgq5cvpbvVSNup_vPWi1UT5PSHz5UYEkbI_6dypD7aALUkxcfv-h1PvBNVARm900/s1600/RGstep8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="522" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJjs9tVkKnZzrsKwuKwCp1mYGCEbwfcCZmJl-vSyAFMTP3ceQAFHsHVNRhAhrF08JWzXA9NsWk3LfAgq5cvpbvVSNup_vPWi1UT5PSHz5UYEkbI_6dypD7aALUkxcfv-h1PvBNVARm900/s640/RGstep8.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can make different size straw reindeers by cutting down the straws before doing the other steps.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add them to your holiday table scape or mantle, to add a little fun to your existing decor.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can also make garland out of them (*although you'd have to have the garland leaning against something like a wall or mirror, as the reindeer are top-heavy and will flip if they're strung mid-air.*)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHiyNVmkp5G7yTeEjaSxeFf7_QsQhGbG3ORFv6kijiGlZKrf-Sf59L696oPuni-hjPZ3lNuTb9M4m7JdUcLJV1UWKBRL8qasPOP3h7EhtEr3royavoyQ-wy6cPWcSAzqiHuZUF9y4ee54/s1600/RGgarland.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHiyNVmkp5G7yTeEjaSxeFf7_QsQhGbG3ORFv6kijiGlZKrf-Sf59L696oPuni-hjPZ3lNuTb9M4m7JdUcLJV1UWKBRL8qasPOP3h7EhtEr3royavoyQ-wy6cPWcSAzqiHuZUF9y4ee54/s640/RGgarland.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To make the garland:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Before making the reindeer, make a small slit in the top 1/5 of the 1st straw and bend it downward, without cutting all the way through.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIu-6adQZlqk5jjSE5hxuLlfO8geUl7fqLpXsCg2JibeoLc8yMT0Bet-iGXaOimGZeivJEaR-jLcBr6Tkb0v2zIpkeSqMaRHpqnwDIPtyAVyuA3g5iPGJmsLb4xuQduMKfz0q3kXZxFw0/s1600/RGcutstraw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="458" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIu-6adQZlqk5jjSE5hxuLlfO8geUl7fqLpXsCg2JibeoLc8yMT0Bet-iGXaOimGZeivJEaR-jLcBr6Tkb0v2zIpkeSqMaRHpqnwDIPtyAVyuA3g5iPGJmsLb4xuQduMKfz0q3kXZxFw0/s640/RGcutstraw.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. String it using baker's twine, jute, string, what have you.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_jAhvRYzic9FxPlT2DPvZXJ5eTSlik8qlLLEpc04ONYtUW_oTCp_CsGetQF1egsakUHznBK7AW6CJUHp28V5KDSDo1yF8yi2GWTIG6yE7D_AVkQGUpEf0frXsV0vkKXh2PMxHb3aX7_E/s1600/RGstrawfeed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="430" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_jAhvRYzic9FxPlT2DPvZXJ5eTSlik8qlLLEpc04ONYtUW_oTCp_CsGetQF1egsakUHznBK7AW6CJUHp28V5KDSDo1yF8yi2GWTIG6yE7D_AVkQGUpEf0frXsV0vkKXh2PMxHb3aX7_E/s640/RGstrawfeed.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. If you don't want to make yourself mad, I recommend wrapping a small piece of scotch tape on the end of your string before feeding it through the straw (like a <span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px;">flugelbinder...Cocktail, anyone? ;</span>)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyenszOLGlozeFxGAqRNDKG7gQKj67YVxg0cDiAaEf9kJT6rWsZwSrSWFwmheqflcl8tWgZCXRlfycF_nlm4zynipmKso74WiIcU12CT2ofEAEX8xr1I6c0vk8WBxmDhowK1yvagzECUY/s1600/RGflugalbinder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="388" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyenszOLGlozeFxGAqRNDKG7gQKj67YVxg0cDiAaEf9kJT6rWsZwSrSWFwmheqflcl8tWgZCXRlfycF_nlm4zynipmKso74WiIcU12CT2ofEAEX8xr1I6c0vk8WBxmDhowK1yvagzECUY/s640/RGflugalbinder.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Feed however many reindeer through the string that you want in your garland, one after the other.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. Then you can go through and start your gluing and cutting steps, as mentioned above.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enjoy bringing out your inner Rudolph! </div>

<br />
The time of year that I look forward to checking the mail for those fun and festive Christmas cards.<br />
<br />
I also enjoy trying to think of new ideas for our own family's holiday card. Executing them is a whole other story. ;)<br />
<br />
There are many amazing sites that offer fabulous designs. For most of the years, we've had good luck going through the likes of Shutterfly and Snapfish. But these past couple of years we've ended up doing our own thing using Photoshop.<br />
<br />
Although I easily fall in love with many of the designs offered from different sites, I really like the freedom that Photoshop brings. Not being restricted by certain colors, font types, styles, etc...is especially nice if there's something I have in mind that's not necessarily offered anywhere that I could find.<br />
<br />
If you don't happen to have photoshop, <a href="http://www.picmonkey.com/" target="_blank">picmonkey</a> offers a ton of fun edits for free. <br />
<br />
After flipping through <a href="http://www.landofnod.com/" target="_blank">The Land of Nod's</a> catalogue and seeing<a href="http://www.landofnod.com/on-the-bright-side-stocking-argyle/f13399" target="_blank"> this backdrop</a> (the one featured in the second picture), I was inspired to try and incorporate a similar idea with our card. I loved the simplicity of their background. I thought it was such an ingenious and creatively fun way to feature some of their stockings.<br />
<br />
The thought was to have our four girls sit together as if they were in a sled. Then remove whatever background to make it entirely white. After that, add a sled to look hand-drawn and some simple "snow flakes", along with the words "Laughing all the way..." contoured around the sled/girls.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU-0uPF0FKDa4z1ozrI2QcqSbbs6MZ1J7BQ4gJ2eX_0XYhH4M6ZoqBpoPFiunBlRBdJP_O5gyC8TMadgoJDPxY1IWgCxAgMZVe_90TbBAZxBXLi2MQ98RfwznqnmdYp8y4I1jnPR0ZTsA/s1600/landofnodinspirelaughing.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU-0uPF0FKDa4z1ozrI2QcqSbbs6MZ1J7BQ4gJ2eX_0XYhH4M6ZoqBpoPFiunBlRBdJP_O5gyC8TMadgoJDPxY1IWgCxAgMZVe_90TbBAZxBXLi2MQ98RfwznqnmdYp8y4I1jnPR0ZTsA/s640/landofnodinspirelaughing.jpg.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Trying to get all four to look at the camera and smile/laugh was impossible. This shot was the closest we got. The older three were on the same page, but our youngest actually had her head completely looking the other way. I had to poorly photoshop her head from a different picture onto her body in this picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's our holiday photo card from last year:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZrcs3_SKOjB7HNUYX02HmOQKAqOqWhXxTgGm9woLVlnOGIkXLtG7Lr1H5D2ztln_bR9WPPxiAxOS5t_4BTocBQ7ui9oogmUkH2SB4x2n01IvY-elFhsbRHjI3HzNYQq7C3yKm5O1UtWQ/s1600/2012ChristmasCard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZrcs3_SKOjB7HNUYX02HmOQKAqOqWhXxTgGm9woLVlnOGIkXLtG7Lr1H5D2ztln_bR9WPPxiAxOS5t_4BTocBQ7ui9oogmUkH2SB4x2n01IvY-elFhsbRHjI3HzNYQq7C3yKm5O1UtWQ/s640/2012ChristmasCard.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using photoshop and ordering them as "prints" instead of holiday cards has been less expensive. This was true with these photo booth pictures especially. We were able to get 3 cards from 1 single 5 x 7 print. The kids had fun playing with the photo booth props, which we got from <a href="http://ohhappyday.com/2011/12/holiday-photobooth-props-free-printable/" target="_blank">Oh Happy Day</a>. We also used the template for the photo booth layout <a href="http://ww41.staceybishopphotographyblog.com/2009/10/photobooth-photostrip-tutorial-and-free.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The past few years we've ordered our cards as regular prints from Costco ($0.39/each). I mention to the person working there at check-out time that these are our holiday cards and ask if I can have envelopes and each time they're happy to give me them. It never hurts to ask. </div>

I have a rounded edge paper punch and figured to use it on the 4 corners of the print to give it a more finished-off look. Any craft supply carriers seem to have a wide variety of paper edge punches.</div>

Do you have a certain system or any tips that work well for you with doing your family's holiday cards? Is it a painful or fun process? Or maybe a little bit of both?</div>

If you've got some popsicle sticks or tongue depressors, a hot glue gun, and a sprig of evergreen, then you've got yourself a good ol' Charlie Brown Christmas tree.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHvlKNMLruttI_BNtWnEq3ECuo8P2efhd_uB1PmHcdMlQ_6Tni9VL3f1lk-CEC5T4Qumu7uH1uvk2nyqGglhiDPm9GZA5jY_WnQUZpoW-ZaS3QXYmYAdrMz8eRc2S8uhDBx48iVsHdpH8/s1600/CharlieBrown1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="550" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHvlKNMLruttI_BNtWnEq3ECuo8P2efhd_uB1PmHcdMlQ_6Tni9VL3f1lk-CEC5T4Qumu7uH1uvk2nyqGglhiDPm9GZA5jY_WnQUZpoW-ZaS3QXYmYAdrMz8eRc2S8uhDBx48iVsHdpH8/s640/CharlieBrown1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Simply put your popsicle sticks or tongue depressors in an "X" shape and dab some hot glue in the center between them to make the tree base.</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. You can take a smaller popsicle stick and break them into three small pieces (using only about 1/2 the stick). I dabbed a generous amount of glue on top of the base in the center of the "X", put the bottom of the evergreen sprig into the glue, and then used the 3 smaller broken-off pieces of popsicle stick to form a triangular base around the glue.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoI9MRhxoAehclLwewtAQf8JDMIaCyKF5n7c4nOecl5Zj-5PgTFT5DDMd4OhP_J7pP2w1pEcYrXO1nPTWgGr_CMt3uEVraLO8UrKq7Au2gG0U5ZogERFE2iUG-ObkoUBNWza2bvCCLroo/s1600/CharlieBrownBase.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoI9MRhxoAehclLwewtAQf8JDMIaCyKF5n7c4nOecl5Zj-5PgTFT5DDMd4OhP_J7pP2w1pEcYrXO1nPTWgGr_CMt3uEVraLO8UrKq7Au2gG0U5ZogERFE2iUG-ObkoUBNWza2bvCCLroo/s640/CharlieBrownBase.jpg" width="590" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The good thing is is that the tree is supposed to be imperfect and lopsided, so perfection is not necessary. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. If you have some blue fabric or scrap fabric (I used some from an old t-shirt), you can wrap it around the base like Linus' blanket (not necessary though).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Place a single small ornament on the twig and let it droop. :) I lucked out with a couple of sets of mini glass ornaments. They were originally marked at $8.00/set at Urban Outfitters a couple of years ago, but I bought them in January well after Christmas and got them for $0.50/each. If you don't have small enough ornaments, you can always improvise and make one out of a red pom pom, felt balls, or anything you can find around your house. Or, if you have a long enough piece of evergreen, a regular-sized ornament may work, as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx_vH8oAav3FeUVnCaj_9vELTffUPvUFFQlpzQuJ2PKnkFQS4UGaE4AghyphenhyphenafIBLI9ZfHy9vZ6pkeYo7AFOKMHCsIifdWAswkcNJ8_kyM03c6UUsP8G5xBrBf7SdVW0QIRmGd1lfIfW3uU/s1600/charliebrown3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="420" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx_vH8oAav3FeUVnCaj_9vELTffUPvUFFQlpzQuJ2PKnkFQS4UGaE4AghyphenhyphenafIBLI9ZfHy9vZ6pkeYo7AFOKMHCsIifdWAswkcNJ8_kyM03c6UUsP8G5xBrBf7SdVW0QIRmGd1lfIfW3uU/s640/charliebrown3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's a great little decoration for a kitchen window sill or desk at work.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With the holiday season quickly approaching, I thought it'd be fun to share some fun and easy gift tag possibilities. You can design them to be geared specifically for Christmas or keep them more general. And, of course, change things up for birthday gifts and other holidays and occasions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6TF3n7_8H1zopTjqrhVY9r2_nsZ-WkWy-SwHkTvSQH-mB5HKGBeOUXG-iKJlfzxByF_OCVekoWJlEGVNdYfbN6ksCiLF6nDJVoFzapFW93OdQVbv3PlvJ4HlOrAgkB-IEDIrInU3bqpE/s1600/BlogDIYGiftTag5.jpg+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="465" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6TF3n7_8H1zopTjqrhVY9r2_nsZ-WkWy-SwHkTvSQH-mB5HKGBeOUXG-iKJlfzxByF_OCVekoWJlEGVNdYfbN6ksCiLF6nDJVoFzapFW93OdQVbv3PlvJ4HlOrAgkB-IEDIrInU3bqpE/s640/BlogDIYGiftTag5.jpg+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used what craft supplies I had on hand to spruce up some ordinary creme gift tags. Using card stock or paper and cutting them into tag shapes work well if you don't have actual tags on hand. You can use a hole punch to make the hole on the end of the tag, if you'd like.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't have a ton of shape punchers, but I thought it'd be fun to use part of one to create a different effect (pictured above). I just put part of the tag in the punch and then used double stick tape on the back (regular scotch tape would probably work even better in this instance, but for some reason, I only had double stick in the house). Then I dipped the tag into fine gold glitter and shook the excess off, leaving the glitter to stick to the snowflake edge.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can use the same concept with a punched out shape using scrapbook or patterned paper taped to cover the opening.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAktBd-WmP51aJ_7XVuMPXS0pDjBB26Dpdeo0169_I-3_AT_d8zchcSOzLZ6O_ppKq2GhvDqnnyJkPXODCt0reY0fFH2U4CqLkubr7Kg9jfH3wDuM9BnacQ0r1INr3xaRW052SPe9QQBU/s1600/BlogDIYGiftCard6.jpg+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAktBd-WmP51aJ_7XVuMPXS0pDjBB26Dpdeo0169_I-3_AT_d8zchcSOzLZ6O_ppKq2GhvDqnnyJkPXODCt0reY0fFH2U4CqLkubr7Kg9jfH3wDuM9BnacQ0r1INr3xaRW052SPe9QQBU/s640/BlogDIYGiftCard6.jpg+copy.jpg" width="403" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also added some washi tape on the edges and used a small hole circular punch and diamond-shaped hole punch to create a small pattern before taping the back and dipping in glitter.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA3hEuecdorFlBw73fSRa0MiGzor_kjgllVB-GTyHdw7yoIfBDnDQSFCteiZiWeEhyZ9cdG7vkifyiZwvYlUvbsh3g6-es0shgaJubstwFEVMJRXUoYbznRXC71-m5gt74PbZ2VPe56H0/s1600/BlogDIYGiftTag7.jpg+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA3hEuecdorFlBw73fSRa0MiGzor_kjgllVB-GTyHdw7yoIfBDnDQSFCteiZiWeEhyZ9cdG7vkifyiZwvYlUvbsh3g6-es0shgaJubstwFEVMJRXUoYbznRXC71-m5gt74PbZ2VPe56H0/s640/BlogDIYGiftTag7.jpg+copy.jpg" width="416" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had some lettered stickers laying around and I thought it would be neat to add to a gift tag for a person's initial. Even better would be letter punches so that you can add effects, like glitter or scrapbook paper behind peeking through.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIJHDWRGh_4vjdfIPpzzirWe2BczuUnavxzHLXjgg_7VRNgL4lY0v88jWBv5ty7Qn08s8mrWrrIpYJA_3yLqdeSAlRYqFCMWxE-uiILkJpt6CYSOpzsIZcqt0g2Km0t8m1s6X2HXBNcFo/s1600/BlogDIYGiftTag8.jpg+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIJHDWRGh_4vjdfIPpzzirWe2BczuUnavxzHLXjgg_7VRNgL4lY0v88jWBv5ty7Qn08s8mrWrrIpYJA_3yLqdeSAlRYqFCMWxE-uiILkJpt6CYSOpzsIZcqt0g2Km0t8m1s6X2HXBNcFo/s640/BlogDIYGiftTag8.jpg+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The above tags is where the double stick tape came in handy. Simply wrapping it around and dipping in glitter before punching it and adding pink paper taped behind the tag so it give the heart a pink color.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think dressed up tags are especially great when giving a gift that isn't usually wrapped, like something in a jar or mug. The possibilities are endless.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Gifting!</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As we're approaching the Halloween season, I thought it'd be fun to share a very simple, inexpensive little project that can be added to your Halloween decor or party.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I made this "spider web" from a Round Plastic Tablecover found at the Dollar Tree.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Below are simple steps you can follow if you wish to make one...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSaHxLTaup_ShzyJFf5XZB1ZXi7iIhNgrOHV7dHgMxBfPwXsiuhGIps008NsH_KPyrnqkkOiuns7DRcheDQMqQ8sKmn0djz5Yj3YMMv3KYr_bvx17fY55qNVF47dal_EUKRwPPStLKLNc/s1600/tablecloth1.jpg.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSaHxLTaup_ShzyJFf5XZB1ZXi7iIhNgrOHV7dHgMxBfPwXsiuhGIps008NsH_KPyrnqkkOiuns7DRcheDQMqQ8sKmn0djz5Yj3YMMv3KYr_bvx17fY55qNVF47dal_EUKRwPPStLKLNc/s640/tablecloth1.jpg.jpg.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

Ha!<br />
<br />
I pretty much just grabbed a long branch that was a straggler underneath a tree in our backyard. I had left over red, glittery felt from Christmas time. I used two sheets and put them together and cut out two of the same hearts (One for the front and one for the back) - For the front part of the arrow. I used the other half of the two felt sheets to make the nock or back part of the arrow. I just eye-balled cutting these out and the heart. I just made sure to stack the two pieces together before cutting so they would be even with each other (The front and back, that is).<br />
<br />
I put the two glittery sides together of the heart and sewed along the edge leaving the top part of the heart open. <br />
<br />
For the back part of the arrow, I did the same thing with putting the two glittery sides together and sewing just the top part, Along the edge, leaving the sides and bottom open. I flipped it over after it was sewn, And used the scissors to make the fray/fringe On the sides. <br />
<br />
I flipped the heart so that the glittery sides for any outside now and put the branch through the opening of the heart. I simply hot glued the opening to the branch. I did the same thing to the back of the branch with the fringed felt piece. Just simply placed it over the back part of the branch and hot glued it on both sides.<br />
<br />
I used bakers twine to hang the large arrow across the top part of our dining room windows (I took pictures of it outside as the pics of it in the dining room turned out to be shadows due to poor lighting). I thought it would be a fun way to display my daughters own valentine art hearts. I used bakers twine to hang their foam hearts that they made.<br />
<br />
I figure over the years it can be used to hang any kind of Valentine decorations or the kids artworks for the holiday.<br />
<br />
Since I had everything hanging around the house it was actually a zero cost project. If you don't happen to have the supplies and had to go and buy them it would still be very inexpensive... Just a couple of felt sheets and glue. If you don't sew or happen have a sewing machine you can always glue the felt pieces together.<br />
<br />
Happy valentine's day! Er, I mean happy St. Patrick's Day ;) <br />

<br />
This is a tad early, but I know this time of year gets insanely busy for people.<br />
<br />
So in case anyone would want to make a twig banner as part of their Christmas decor or even as a prop in their family holiday photos and/or cards, now would be a better time than say the week before Christmas. Which is usually pure chaos :)<br />
<br />
Supplies needed:<br />
<br />
*jute or string or ribbon<br />
*tin snips or saw to cut down twigs<br />
*hot glue gun<br />
*twigs or wood pieces<br />
<br />
Last fall, my kids and I scoured our backyard and gathered a bunch of bundles of twigs. We brought them inside and started laying them out and trying to piece some together that would eventually make a letter. We moved them around several times just eyeballing what might look good. (Unfortunately, I don't have any step-by-step pics of this as we did it last year.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiqy0x0c3Xd-S6Lgvci783o_9Di0tIEmvFMe-sBWgMCTg88cpmG84YGp9UvlWjCVZmDnruPA_tXhyphenhyphen2g3aREmr-xzau5QRbAbgNmYYzKUO2wtT8ByUq3_aTkiQSHW4N4721RIBjJJxWCSU/s1600/HappHolidaysHappy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="498" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiqy0x0c3Xd-S6Lgvci783o_9Di0tIEmvFMe-sBWgMCTg88cpmG84YGp9UvlWjCVZmDnruPA_tXhyphenhyphen2g3aREmr-xzau5QRbAbgNmYYzKUO2wtT8ByUq3_aTkiQSHW4N4721RIBjJJxWCSU/s640/HappHolidaysHappy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Once we had the general idea of what twigs would make what letters, I went through with the <a href="http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&biw=1440&bih=708&tbm=isch&tbnid=s3fBaYqa_dQEUM:&imgrefurl=http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Heavy-duty-Aviation-Tin-Snips/3178976/product.html&docid=bs99sbVM00R0dM&imgurl=http://ak1.ostkcdn.com/images/products/P11298418.jpg&w=250&h=250&ei=C9WXUMOYMeqZyQHS-IGYAQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=470&sig=108028113695972085001&page=1&tbnh=148&tbnw=148&start=0&ndsp=26&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0,i:93&tx=90&ty=53">tin snips</a> and cut the twigs one by one to size them to make the actual letter. I tried to keep the letters around the same size.<br />
<br />
Then I hot glued the twigs of the letters together and then hot glued the top of them to a piece of jute.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFylg6lxgEVF8oaT_jpUQ9ROt-4F-q8q2TrWPd45xwhPMvj38eOlpPFLQ0e_7TSujrcsbu49MNUWldPji7oMdJb5wDkOUzeOKH70N1jiTsqTERJMCRl5Lf_z2yKDXP3NIFC9MYpzYuqlw/s1600/HappyHolidaysHoliday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFylg6lxgEVF8oaT_jpUQ9ROt-4F-q8q2TrWPd45xwhPMvj38eOlpPFLQ0e_7TSujrcsbu49MNUWldPji7oMdJb5wDkOUzeOKH70N1jiTsqTERJMCRl5Lf_z2yKDXP3NIFC9MYpzYuqlw/s640/HappyHolidaysHoliday.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
You can add fun details to the sides, like sprigs of holly...or even felt cupcakes or something fun if you were to make a 'Happy Birthday' banner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixTNByrnj38ingIOwYtecIxFDHRIJTP8RshqLMk2ioQZsN4reM1RRPFwWKRWxddXz-9uztR6CH8C4BB5FlkVO4QANbHuMS7-2rdTkUgkbw64n4uxj6aooL2ffSLjm3YA7Kmo73rXA1pMU/s1600/HappyHolidaysHolly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="404" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixTNByrnj38ingIOwYtecIxFDHRIJTP8RshqLMk2ioQZsN4reM1RRPFwWKRWxddXz-9uztR6CH8C4BB5FlkVO4QANbHuMS7-2rdTkUgkbw64n4uxj6aooL2ffSLjm3YA7Kmo73rXA1pMU/s640/HappyHolidaysHolly.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
What I like most about the twig banner is that it is neutral and it can go with pretty much any decor. It can be left as is or dressed up a bit.<br />
<br />
Happy Holidays!<br />

<br />
I'm typically one of those people who jumps straight from Halloween to Christmas, in terms of planning and decorating. <br />
<br />
While Thanksgiving is actually my favorite holiday, I hadn't really decorated around our house to celebrate the occasion.<br />
<br />
Back in the spring, I came across this gem in the thrift store for $0.99 in hopes of somehow using it this fall.<br />

My husband is a big fan of root beer and often drinks this <a href="http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&biw=1440&bih=778&tbm=isch&tbnid=U6r-EtGoHbdgpM:&imgrefurl=http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/search/more_info.php%3Fitem_id%3D86&docid=UvPM2Ym8k5CFBM&imgurl=http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/images/products/86.jpg&w=406&h=1045&ei=6maWUMWpAcSYygGLhIHoCQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=746&vpy=209&dur=7&hovh=360&hovw=140&tx=83&ty=190&sig=108028113695972085001&page=1&tbnh=140&tbnw=54&start=0&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:104">kind</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I asked if he could hold back 6 of the bottles from the recycle bin when he was done drinking.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I peeled the labels off and soaked the bottles in hot, soapy water and scraped off the remainder of the sticky goo before running them through the dishwasher.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's not very noticeable, but I saw the date stamps were still on the bottles. After they were done in the dishwasher, I realized I could just scrape the dates off with my nails.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZKRW8x6xu0FQaHSGMAHgG3Ilj9GGTgttfXtdmAWbKpa0PZJsbtKXWpFbY3W5ZsFSqIaiAXIkHpAZDyyEWkuiuXE46nvlC-XcFeftFOFy4avOj5tfCkUHBPARjKu_cVK9IjBu_RqD_Djg/s1600/HeyTurkeyBottleScratch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZKRW8x6xu0FQaHSGMAHgG3Ilj9GGTgttfXtdmAWbKpa0PZJsbtKXWpFbY3W5ZsFSqIaiAXIkHpAZDyyEWkuiuXE46nvlC-XcFeftFOFy4avOj5tfCkUHBPARjKu_cVK9IjBu_RqD_Djg/s640/HeyTurkeyBottleScratch.jpg" width="620" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I grabbed some orange letter stickers from Hobby Lobby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_xdOi58iMJbq8ScxKsUPSopIpnsEZxlKmzq_Um1qtct_wMoNTooyyIijwU1m1mTKFXPbdBpeA9VM8m_3LwSWLA2oupP7_p2KbZrAIGR3mEaJHOgYt6BHk8b8qRAqXg_31SMdBPx60HNs/s1600/HeyTurkeyLetterStickers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_xdOi58iMJbq8ScxKsUPSopIpnsEZxlKmzq_Um1qtct_wMoNTooyyIijwU1m1mTKFXPbdBpeA9VM8m_3LwSWLA2oupP7_p2KbZrAIGR3mEaJHOgYt6BHk8b8qRAqXg_31SMdBPx60HNs/s640/HeyTurkeyLetterStickers.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then placed the letters 'T', 'H', 'A', 'N', 'K', 'S' on each individual bottle. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What was nice about these particular Sprecher bottles was that they have a slight grooved line that runs around the top of the bottle, which helped me guide where to place the letters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNUBI5d2pUk9h09vNOiOaQxq2wQvGf_XNpjjjif9tiO-Wb4gJvSIKpoN7pDBs-FZ5UuHgFSVZM4T1Fvxyz_6FIBP37Ov-2720ax4ttyT2DBnL-54Eh-DEV11F0xkuvy9lnIAJec7V39RU/s1600/HeyTurkeyBottleT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNUBI5d2pUk9h09vNOiOaQxq2wQvGf_XNpjjjif9tiO-Wb4gJvSIKpoN7pDBs-FZ5UuHgFSVZM4T1Fvxyz_6FIBP37Ov-2720ax4ttyT2DBnL-54Eh-DEV11F0xkuvy9lnIAJec7V39RU/s640/HeyTurkeyBottleT.jpg" width="390" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I used the same stickers to make mini burlap bunting that reads 'GIVE'.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBWnO9se3BIN_Vgr8-MiCDq67BtgprRvcnb4EPT3tuT5p6HJVQAjGxCslyHib0vf5_WAbXABogakL6l5cNq4c5BioAP7SHh9cyzHGl2iJaVsXzmmd4Pu0XN0uvQIOxbKQzpZp806tHD_o/s1600/HeyTurkeyGBunting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBWnO9se3BIN_Vgr8-MiCDq67BtgprRvcnb4EPT3tuT5p6HJVQAjGxCslyHib0vf5_WAbXABogakL6l5cNq4c5BioAP7SHh9cyzHGl2iJaVsXzmmd4Pu0XN0uvQIOxbKQzpZp806tHD_o/s640/HeyTurkeyGBunting.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I pulled out a string of jute and used mini clothes pins to attach the bunting flags.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8NCgnUSrDk5ZEly12b1j1t-Pyj8ddOsOhYZOL6uf8ONBvwPvEXG4vAQjDPpVZ__xe3vyEI-pfWir_NVq8uS476NhnzdwK8bPw-jfMC6eaymcG4MacalJ1rQrqv80vh1gpYFWw3s5xlTQ/s1600/HeyTurkeyGiveBunting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="332" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8NCgnUSrDk5ZEly12b1j1t-Pyj8ddOsOhYZOL6uf8ONBvwPvEXG4vAQjDPpVZ__xe3vyEI-pfWir_NVq8uS476NhnzdwK8bPw-jfMC6eaymcG4MacalJ1rQrqv80vh1gpYFWw3s5xlTQ/s640/HeyTurkeyGiveBunting.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Using tape to make it stick, I strung the 'GIVE' bunting across the mirror above our mantle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I lined up the the bottles directly underneath the mirror to spell out 'THANKS' and placed a couple of pieces of wheat that I pulled from the thrift store find into each bottle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can always grab some wheat at your local grocery store, craft center, or good ol' mother nature.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

Tangled Shoe Boxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06813976578724256030noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8112881272098665097.post-11511233357808503502012-11-02T21:06:00.000-05:002012-11-02T21:12:41.217-05:00This is beautiful, what is that velvet?I've been loving all of those beautiful velvet pumpkins with the real stems that I've seen in stores and are strewn across various blogs and websites.<br />
<br />
I just wasn't loving the price tag. :)<br />
<br />
I figured to try and make it with some velvet fabric, buy even that is a bit expensive. <br />
<br />
So I thought before getting rid of our decaying pumpkins on the front stoop, I'd try to make some using inexpensive fabric that was also on sale.<br />
<br />
Bonus!<br />
<br />
The pictures certainly aren't the greatest. I used my phone with poor lighting.<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I was hoping to start this project with plenty of day light to take some step-by-step photos, but realistically couldn't even start until the sun was already down.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I've only made one so far and hope to do at least 2 more. I hope to take better pics with my second attempt and with my real camera.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
First, I gathered all of the supplies I would need:</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
pumpkin stems</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
desired fabrics</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
needle</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
thread</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
marker</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
scissors</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
dried beans or rice</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
hot glue gun</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtGoLz-8-yTmtWHAtsxNrDkCDTudtNNdwZrqzYWZ6iWjyL_latzADaCydwZoCsc__T83GHQ8EbUfD3j4hTAeVt3dM7mDvg0DqIzVZ6-78n0FiOwiSIMsLUbNd6IlLrnbXCPz1H-Nmhiv0/s640/blogger-image--1673825526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtGoLz-8-yTmtWHAtsxNrDkCDTudtNNdwZrqzYWZ6iWjyL_latzADaCydwZoCsc__T83GHQ8EbUfD3j4hTAeVt3dM7mDvg0DqIzVZ6-78n0FiOwiSIMsLUbNd6IlLrnbXCPz1H-Nmhiv0/s640/blogger-image--1673825526.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
Depending on how large you like your pumpkins, you can use what you'd like for a circular stencil.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
For this first pumpkin, I used the bottom of a lamp shade to trace a circle on the back side of the fabric (printed duck fabric). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
I will probably use something different to trace the circles for my other 2 pumpkins to give them varying sizes. Maybe a pot lid, a waste basket, etc...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxZkM0-fgoIA7eOkS3itzmUeL5bWbMfl0iC7B111gvOzAzx48pKQDoxdAq6woXs_MAPsOBuYxWWDqQEr00A3oB_8Bube8k19ogOHYEYgRIGYkSy31VM-dgEhkAb3frq1T7sWW8hizrKtw/s640/blogger-image--716532056.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxZkM0-fgoIA7eOkS3itzmUeL5bWbMfl0iC7B111gvOzAzx48pKQDoxdAq6woXs_MAPsOBuYxWWDqQEr00A3oB_8Bube8k19ogOHYEYgRIGYkSy31VM-dgEhkAb3frq1T7sWW8hizrKtw/s640/blogger-image--716532056.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
Then simply cut out your circle with some fabric scissors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
I had a helper when it came time to cut the stem from one of the collapsing pumpkins. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">
I'm planning on using the different orange fabrics for the other 2 pumpkins.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thread your needle and widely-stitch around the diameter of your circle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't have pics of the next part, due to some distractions ;) but when your thread gets close back to where you started sewing, start cinching your fabric/pulling it to form the pumpkin shape. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But before you finish, fill your form with rice (what I used) or dried beans to your desire. Then continue stitching until it's closed. I did a couple of "x" stitches across the top of the cinched opening to add extra reinforcement.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then you can hot glue your stem right on top of the bundled stitching.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Display and enjoy!</div>
